Special Statement about the switch from sessions to monthly!
updated 8/2/2024 @ 11am
We are happy to announce that enrollment will officially OPEN for the "fall" on Monday, August 5th!
You will notice a MAJOR update to the schedule however, so please read through this email so you are up to speed with our next biggest update!
We have moved to a monthly tuition schedule. One of the biggest things we kept hearing from families over the last year was how frustrating it was to have to enroll, and that we didn't have the option to re-enroll their athlete automatically. We got to talk to many other gyms at National Congress (U.S. Trials) and learned that so many gyms are moving or have moved to a monthly tuition structure. This will also eliminate the "testing week stress" that comes up every 10 weeks.
We've listed below what we think the top questions will be! Please feel free to respond to this email, or give our front desk a call if you have any questions!
Registration Details
- Class spots are first-come, first-serve. You can join anytime! The monthly tuition will prorate to whatever is left in the month!
- Due to the high volume of registrations, we may not be able to respond to phone calls, emails, or messages right away. The best way to secure your spot is by registering online through our parent portal!
- When you initially register for the school year session, you will pay September's monthly tuition. On the 26th of each month, the tuition for the following month will be added as a charge to your account. We will send you a statement showing the monthly tuition, and on the 1st of every month, payments for that month's tuition will be processed. For example, on October 26th, the charge for November's tuition will be added to your account, and payment will be processed on November 1st. Payment failure will be communicated, and athletes will not be able to participate until the account is current.
- 2024 - 2025 school year classes will run from September 3rd, 2024 to May 31, 2025. To drop a class, you must notify us by the 25th. Failure to do so will result in the charge for the following month being added to your account, and payment being run on the 1st.
- You WILL be required to have a card on file. You can change this card at any time in the parent portal or by stopping at the front desk!
Registration Tips
We know that registration can be stressful! Here are some tips on how to have a smoother registration:
- iClassPro, our class management system, has an automatic queue built into their system. With so many people logging on at once, it can be difficult for the server to handle all of the traffic. We have spoken with iClass on this matter and here's what they've shared with us:
“This delay is a part of our system's normal functioning and is implemented to ensure a smooth and stable registration process for all users, including your valued customers. This means the system will automatically update every 30 seconds and will display the available classes/occupancy to each customer as per the order the request was received to the server. This ensures that the system continues to work on a "first in, first out" basis.”
- Try not to refresh - refreshing the page will restart your place in the queue!
- Create an account on our parent portal ahead of time.
- Make sure you are looking at a school year class, not a summer class! School year classes will have " - Begins 9/3/24 " in the class title, until the summer session is over.
Make-up Policy
- Each enrolled student will be issued a makeup token to be scheduled within 30 days of the absence. Makeup tokens will automatically be issued for absences.
- If enrolled in multiple classes, the make up policy is the same for each class and one make up is offered per class
- Make up classes can be scheduled ahead of time as well if you know you’re going to be out for a future class (i.e. vacation, appointment, etc.)
- Make up classes must be in the same class, for the same student the makeup token was issued - If you schedule a make up class and then miss, you cannot reschedule it
- Note: Make ups cannot be guaranteed and space is limited. Makeups are allowed in a class with openings. This heavily relies on families putting in their absences either in the parent portal, or by letting the office know. You can watch a helpful video on how to mark your child as absent here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBDua3ITTfs
How do move ups occur?
For toddler and preschool classes, we generally follow age. 18 month olds to 3 years will start in our Mini + Me class, 3 year olds would start in Tumble Bees, 4 year olds begin in our Mighty Movers class and 5 year olds begin in our Stars class. We have two classes, Super Stars and Advanced Super Stars that they can move into, should they "pass" all of the skill development in our "beginner" preschool classes. Once they turn 6 they will integrate into our Recreational Program.
In the recreational program (6+), students will be evaluated throughout the month. As they progress through the curriculum and master specific skills, parents will be notified that it's time to move up to the next level. We will be sending level passed certificates via email to families, which will help signal it's time to move up! Coaches will also hand the athletes a small certificate, congratulating them on their level passing and letting them know it's time to enroll in the next class!
Which brings us to our next big update - we have revamped our skill tree, in hopes of making it a little more consistent through progressions. Just like before, it will not be uncommon to repeat a level, this is based on proper progressions through the skill to ensure safety, but also build a strong foundation. We know that not all kids who come to Laketown Gymnastics are looking to become competitive, but use this as a great way to build strength, agility, coordination and get some movement in. We believe that we will not only continue to build great athletes in our classes no matter what sport they choose to do as they get older, but help mold strong, confident athletes who understand their body and what amazing things it can do.
Current students are getting evaluated with the "retired" skill tree (which you can see anytime in the parent portal), but will be assessed for the best fit for our new classes and skill tree. Current students will get their class assignment during next week's class.
Parent Tots is now Mini + Me
Tumbling Tots is now Tumble Bees
Mighty Mites is now Mighty Movers
Stars, Super Stars & Advanced Super Stars remain the same!
Beginner 1/2 is now Beginner A
Beginner 3/4 is now Beginner B
Intermediate 1/2 is now Intermediate A
Intermediate 3/4 is now Intermediate B
Advanced 1/2 is now Advanced A
Advanced 3/4 is now Advanced B
We are suggesting that you enroll in whatever class your child was in last (the equivalent listed above)! With our new move up policy, kids who are ready to move up will have the opportunity to do so when they are ready - and this will give us a chance to update the new skill tree for your gymnast. If you are currently in the Summer Session, coaches will be entering the new scores in this week! Please be patient as we work to get them entered. You will notice that they say {retired}. This was done to help us distinguish the new skills from the old skills required to pass in each level.
Laketown Gymnastics reserves the right to make changes to the schedule based on weather conditions, staffing, low enrollment or otherwise. No refunds or credits will be issued for missed classes or missed drop deadline.
Also Coming This Year!
We are excited to have a full line up of Preschool Open Gyms, Saturday Open Gyms AND new No School Day Camps! We will be sending more information on them next week (but a sneak peek is up on the website!)
We are also really excited to share that we've been developing lesson plans behind the scenes - which will help our coaches remain consistent in their coaching, which will lead to better skill and strength development!
Please bear with us as we continue to update the website with the new information!
We are SO appreciative of our incredible community. We are so excited about what the future holds for our gym, and all of the families who come here - whether it's for gymnastics, parkour, birthday parties or drop in open gym times. We are always looking for how we can better serve our community, so if you have any suggestions, please let us know!
